Auditions

Saturday, January 27, 2024. 1:00-4:00 p.m.

(NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A CONFLICT BECAUSE OF THE CMEA CONFERENCE, EMAIL TO SCHEDULE A PRIVATE AUDITION TIME.)

What you need to know.  Auditions are friendly and informal. Sign up now for your five-minute slot!

  • Come prepared to sing approximately 16 measures (45-60 seconds) of any song you like, either alone or with another person. (We love strong voices, but not everyone needs to be a soloist.) You will need to provide your own digital accompaniment. No piano will be available.
  • You will be asked to read a short scene with one of our cast members.
  • If there is anything else you want to show us, feel free to demonstrate. (Ideas: hip-hop, beatboxing, a monologue, an impersonation of someone famous, etc.—no more than 60 seconds.)
  • Sign up by sending your name, cell phone number, email address, and preferred five-minute audition time to scattershot921@gmail.com. You will receive a confirmation email that includes your specific audition time, usually within 24 hours.

Why are auditions so early? Auditions are being held January 27 for three performances in September. Every show is original and the writer/director needs time to design a show around the talents of the cast members chosen.

What are the dates of the September show? Sorry, but because of the way the Rialto handles bookings, we won’t know our exact dates until spring, 2024, but they should be on one of these weekends: September 12-15, September 20-22, September 27-29.

When are rehearsals? Worried about the time commitment? We understand. Those who have worked with us know that our writer/director, Cheryl Miller Thurston, works very hard to schedule carefully and use everyone’s time wisely. She will try hard to schedule around conflicts, and you will need to be at rehearsals only on nights you are scheduled, and only for the numbers you are in. (There will be around 30 numbers in the show, and no one is in all of them, of course. ) You can even opt to be in the show on a “limited basis,” with only three or four numbers. Rehearsal days are  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights, from 6:30-9:30.and Sunday afternoons from 1:00-5:00.  They will begin around four weeks before the week of the show.

We promise you—being in the shows is a lot of fun.
Nothing beats the thrill of laughter and audience applause!
